I do it and I haven't had any tooth-aches or cavities (except once when I was young), or anything like that so do it. When it comes to which toothpaste I use I don't have one particular toothpaste. There are, at the moment, 5 people living in my house (including me) so there are a range of different toothpastes, I just pick the one closest to me. I found this method on YouTube to get your teeth looking whiter and all you do is get some bicarbonate of soda or just some baking soda (the bicarbonate soda works best) and you put a tablespoon of that onto a plate and then you get a lemon or lime and squeeze the juice onto the soda and mix it well, it should turn into a paste, if you have to much lemon/lime then add a little more soda. Now I just get olive oil and put a little bit, seriously, just a little, and apply it on my face. Again, do this in a circle motion. Sweet dreams my brilliant bollies...
